General Criteria for the Nomination

  • Aged between 18-45
  • Holding a particular outstanding and trend-setting achievement that constitutes the principal claims of the prize.
  • A nomination for the Youth Excellence Prize is only considered valid if submitted by the qualified nominators explained below.

General Rules for the Nomination

  • The nomination deadline is June 30 every year.
  • The right to nominate is open to the qualified nominators detailed below at the qualified nominators section.
  • Self-nominations will not be considered.
  • Nominations are confidential, and a nomination should not be made known to the nominee. The notification to the nominee may risk their nomination.
  • A deceased person cannot be nominated.
  • All nominations received after June 30 will be considered in the nomination process for the subsequent year. If the awardee passes away before receiving the prize, then the prize will be awarded posthumously.
  • Nominations should be submitted using the online nomination form.
  • Submitted materials should explain the contribution in terms that a non-specialist can understand.

Nominate

NOMINATE

  • Information about the nominator: Name, affiliation/institution, and contact details.
  • Information about the candidate: Name, affiliation/institution, and contact details.
  • Nomination statement (500-1000 words in length) addressing why the candidate should receive this prize. This may describe the candidate’s work in general but should draw particular attention to the contributions that merit the prize.
  • Copy of the candidate’s CV
  • Supporting letters from at least 3, and not more than 8, endorsers. Endorsers should be chosen to represent a range of perspectives and institutions and provide additional insights or evidence of the candidate’s impact. Each letter must include the name, address, and telephone number of the endorser, and should focus on the accomplishments which that endorser can attest to and place in context.  The nominator should collect the letters and bundle them for submission. (Nominators will need to provide a valid email for each endorser.)
  • Verifications of the proven outputs within the chosen field (listing publications, patents, honors, service contributions, etc.)

Who can nominate?

Eligible Nominators for “Umar ibn al-Khattab” Leadership Award

Nominations for the Prize may be submitted by the following institutions and individuals:

  1. Members of national, regional, or international governmental councils, agencies, and statutory authorities responsible for entrepreneurship, SME development, investment, trade, innovation, and industrial development policies of the sovereign states in relevant fields;
  2. The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and relevant OIC-affiliated institutions working on economic development, youth, innovation, or entrepreneurship including Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh and Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD),
  3. Leaders and senior representatives of entrepreneurship ecosystems, including startup accelerators, incubators, innovation hubs, and technology parks operating in OIC Member and Observer States;
  4. Venture capital firms, angel investor networks, impact investment funds, and development finance institutions supporting entrepreneurship, innovation, and scalable solutions;
  5. Founders, CEOs, and senior leaders of high-impact startups and technology-driven enterprises, particularly in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and health technologies;
  6. Senior officials and experts from public institutions responsible for economic development, entrepreneurship, innovation policy, digital transformation, or science and technology;
  7. Heads and senior professionals of national innovation agencies, SME development authorities, and technology funding bodies in OIC Member and Observer States;
  8. Presidents, rectors, and directors of universities and applied research institutions with strong industry collaboration and innovation outputs; and
  9. Other distinguished leaders, innovators, and experts, as deemed appropriate by the Selection Committee or the Prize Secretariat.

 
“Uthman ibn Affan” Solidarity Prize

Nominations for the Prize may be submitted by the following institutions and individuals:

  1. Members of national and international academies, institutes, and learned societies of sovereign states specializing in Islamic art, culture, history, architecture, literature, aesthetics, and civilizational studies;
  2. The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and relevant OIC-affiliated institutions including Secretariat of Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Global Forum for Moderation.
  3. Senior scholars, professors, and research chairs in relevant disciplines at accredited universities, conservatories, fine arts academies, and cultural research institutions;
  4. Directors, curators, and senior experts of museums, archives, libraries, and cultural heritage institutions, including those dedicated to Islamic art and civilization;
  5. Leaders and senior practitioners in cultural and creative industries, including cinema, visual arts, music, publishing, and contemporary art, whose work engages with Islamic values and cultural heritage;
  6. Heads and senior representatives of cultural diplomacy bodies, cultural foundations, and international or intergovernmental organizations working on the promotion and preservation of Islamic culture and heritage;
  7. Editors-in-chief and senior editorial board members of peer-reviewed journals, cultural reviews, and respected publications focusing on Islamic arts, culture, literature, and civilization; and
  8. Other distinguished cultural figures, scholars, artists, and practitioners, whom the Selection Committee or Prize Secretariat may deem appropriate to invite for nominations.

“Ali ibn Abi Talib” Knowledge Prize

Nominations for the Prize may be submitted by the following institutions and individuals:

  1. Members of national, regional, or international academies in sciences and scholarly societies of the sovereign states in relevant fields;
  2. The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and relevant OIC-affiliated institutions including Islamic World Academy of Sciences affiliated to the OIC and COMSTECH (Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC),
  3. Recipients of internationally recognized scientific, academic, or innovation awards
  4. Full professors, associate professors, and research chairs at accredited universities in sovereign states and research institutions, with demonstrated international expertise
  5. Directors and senior researchers of recognized research centers and laboratories from the sovereign states,
  6. Leaders of public research councils, science and technology funding agencies, and policy-oriented research bodies.
  7. Editors-in-chief or senior editorial board members of peer-reviewed academic journals, particularly those with a focus on cutting-edge or interdisciplinary research.
  8. Other distinguished scholars and experts, whom the Selection Committee may deem appropriate to invite.

Eligible Nominators for the “Abu Bakr Siddiq” Excellence Prize (Premier Distinction)

Nominations for the Excellence Prize may be submitted by the following:

  1. Heads and members of national and international councils, assemblies, and leadership bodies engaged in youth leadership, governance, public affairs, peacebuilding, and advocacy;
  2. The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and relevant OIC-affiliated institutions including Secretariat of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC – OIC) and Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, Islamic Solidarity Fund and Islamic Organization for Food Security,
  3. Former and current leaders, diplomats, and senior officials from public institutions, intergovernmental organizations, and international bodies of sovereign states involved in public diplomacy, crisis management, and peace processes;
  4. Senior academics, professors, and research chairs in political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies, law, human rights, and public policy at accredited universities and research institutions of OIC Member and Observer States;
  5. Directors and senior practitioners of civil society organizations, advocacy groups, and youth-led movements working in the fields of justice, rights-based initiatives, peacebuilding, and social cohesion;
  6. Heads and senior representatives of international or intergovernmental organizations, think tanks, and policy platforms engaged in youth leadership, mediation, public diplomacy, and crisis response;
  7. Editors-in-chief and senior editorial board members of peer-reviewed journals, policy reviews, and recognized media platforms focusing on leadership, governance, peace, and rights-based issues; and
  8. Other distinguished leaders, practitioners, and experts, whom the Selection Committee or Prize Secretariat may deem appropriate to invite for nominations.
